Exchange: Roundtable with incoming delegation from Egypt

Swecare together with The Embassy of Sweden in Cairo, are pleased to welcome The Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply and Technology Management (UPA) on the 8th of December 2021, accompanying a healthcare delegation of start-ups from Egypt. During their visit the delegation will learn more about the Swedish healthcare system, meet with counterparts and visit some of Swecares members.

The objective of this roundtable is primarly knowledge exchange between the two countries. During this meeting, UPA will present their mandate and share information about how Swedish life sciences companies can participate in the first Africa Health ExCon organised in Egypt in 2022 to connect world healthcare buyers and suppliers with African clients and decision-makers.

About UPA
The Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply and Technology Management (UPA) was established to be the exclusive medical procurement authority reporting directly to the Prime Minister and the only agency to carry out purchase transactions of pharmaceutical products and medical equipment on behalf of all governmental and public entities in Egypt. The UPA is working to pave the way for the implementation of the universal health insurance system.
 
About Africa Health ExCon
The ExCon aims to create a platform for health and pharma businesses interested in Africa. It will be held on 60,000 square meters from 5th till 7th of June 2022, at Egypt International Exhibition Center (EIEC) Cairo, Egypt. Targeted sectors include (Supplies and Consumables - Medical Equipment- Pharmaceuticals - Laboratory Consumables and Chemicals - Feeding Industries - Packaging - Dermal Products - Nutrition and Vitamins - Medical Insurance - Healthcare service providers – Pharmacies).

Egyptian start-ups

  • Coat connect: an online platform to connect healthcare professionals to educational, professional, and business opportunities.  
  • DRAPP: an online platform that allows billable medical consultations between doctors and patients via a smart chatbot integrated into a messaging app. 
  • EIIN: an application for doctors and patients to identify drug interactions of medications by only taking a picture or typing the drug's name.  
  • O7 Therapy: a client-centered mobile app, providing tailored and meaningful mental health solutions for Arabic speakers.  
  • Techne Summit: an international multi-industry focused investment and entrepreneurship event focused on the Mediterranean region.
