The Coronavirus extends the Chinese New Year UPDATE

Dear customer,

On January 26th, the Chinese Government informed that the ongoing Chinese New Year will be extended from January 31, to February 2nd. It is now confirmed that Shanghai, Wuxi and Suzhou will remain closed until February 10th. Furthermore, the same dates have been enforced regarding Ningbo, Chongqing, Shenzhen and Guangzhou.

For customers exporting cargo by air freight, we strongly recommend you avoid placing new transport bookings to China, until terminal and logistic operations resume. There are still cargo arriving, mainly at Shanghai Pudong Airport (PVG). However, the amount of cargo stacking up have reached critical levels, with severe risks of cargo remaining in terminal for an extended period of time.

This will cause major disruptions in the production and logistic supply chains with significant delays as a result. Terminal, customs and administrative services will be closed during this period.

Unfortunately, this is beyond our control and any extra cost due to this situation will not be absorbed by us.

We maintain a close contact with our colleagues in the region and will revert with more region-specific information once available.

If you have any question, you are welcome to contact your local GEODIS office.

Yours Sincerely,
GEODIS Sweden AB
