Feeder with CMA CGM - now on a weekly basis

In cooperation with the CMA-CGM Group, consisting of CMA-CGM / APL / MacAndrews / OPDR, we can now offer weekly traffic with feeder to and from Uddevalla

According to masterschedule the rotation is Rotterdam-Uddevalla-Gothenburg-Rotterdam. In Rotterdam the vessel calls at three terminals; New World, Delta and ECT.  With this service, companies in the nearby region of Uddevalla gets a new option for shipping. This option means shorter inland haulage, faster handling, flexible services and is on top of that also a way to minimize the environmental impact of their transports.

Despite major problems with the weather in Rotterdam, which has caused both conjunction and delays in the rotation, the feeder company has managed to keep regular weekly traffic during the recent months. We have also seen that several companies in our region now see improved opportunities for stuffing and stripping of containers in Uddevalla. This has the benefits to be near both the container depot and the feeder, and is thereby another step in to further minimize environmental impact, by reducing unnecessary transports.

For shipping inquiries or further information about the service, contact CMA-CGM Group: sales.sweden@cma-cgm.com

Renovation of harbour crane 17

Crane no 17 on Sörvik will undergo a planned renovation, starting April 7 th 2018

Week no 15-16 this crane will be at a stand still. During this time, one of our mobile crane will function as a replacement, handling any work needed in it´s place. Traffic can also be redirected to Skeppsholmspiren or to the dock.

The repair is scheduled to be completed as soon as possible, well in advance of week 19 when the shipments with wind turbines starts in Uddevalla. In the long term, this renovation means that we ensure the needs of our goods flows for the future.

If you need any more information, please contact Dag Paulsson or Robert Rydén.

Containers with timber

We have been commissioned by the company Västkustens Skog to make a trial shipment of containers stuffed with timber

We will be stuffing the containers with timber at our terminal. Then the containers will be stored at the port for a while, before being shipped to China via Rotterdam with our feeder traffic.

The first few samples with stuffed containers have already been completed, with good results, and the first shipment will be leaving Uddevalla in the next few weeks.

We look forward to a good reception of the cargo in China and to a continued cooperation.

Military exercise involving Port of Uddevalla

The battalion group Bohusdalsgruppens hemvärnsbataljon will conduct military training in Uddevalla during April

The reason Port of Uddevalla is involved is that we are considered a national interest due to, among other things, our location and logistics. We are therefore very happy about our good relationship with the military and pleased to be a part of this exercise. The scenario of the excercise is based on a fact that Sweden is not in war, but that there are still threats to particular interests, one of which is Port of Uddevalla.

Train derailment in port area

On the evening of March 13, we had a railway wagon who derailed in our railway yard

The derailment caused damage to about 350 m railway track, which is now out of order until further notice. Unfortunately, the repair work will take a long time and cause disturbances to our operations significantly more than we first estimated. The train traffic in the coming weeks will be limited, mainly in the inner parts of the port, but also in Sörvik area there will be some disruption.

The reason for the derailment is not yet clear, but for now we focus on providing our customers the highest possible service while repairs are ongoing. Further information is provided continuously to those directly concerned.

Uddevalla Hamnterminal invests for the future

Increased imports, very intense terminal operations, the current boom and a fairly stable world economy has led to us taking decisions of extraordinarily investments in order to meet future needs from our customers

Increased imports and intensive terminal operations mean, of course, that the port's infrastructure is more heavily loaded than usually. This and the fact that we are in a boom and still have a fairly stable world economy, has led to us making the decision to invest extraordinary. This decision will also make sure we cover the future needs of our customers. More investment of course also means increased depreciation, however we have also been able to expect a somewhat higher volume of goods to compensate this financially.

The port invests almost 15 million SEK in existing cranes in 2018, 10 million SEK in railroad tracks and surrounding land areas and another 10 million SEK in trucks and other machinery. And to top it all off, almost all investments are directly linked to both a better environment and resource utilization.
