Peak season for Clariant Production Sweden AB

When an airplane takes off from an airport in Scandinavia during the winter months, it has most probably been treated with a de-icing fluid before take off

And most likely this de-icing liquid has been produced in Clariant Production Sweden AB's plant at Fröland in Port of Uddevalla. Clariant Production Sweden AB established their production plant at Fröland in 2011. It is Europe's most modern production-plant for de-icing fluids for the aviation industry and has a storage capacity of over 5000 m³. The de-icing fluids are based on MonoPropylene Glycol and are therefor harmless from both an environmental and health point of view.

The raw materials needed are imported to Uddevalla with tankers and then discharged directly into tanks in the production facility via pipelines. This is both cost-effective and resource-efficient as the need for road transport decreases sharply.

Clariant Productions' choice to establish at Fröland was a strategic one, the geographical location, being close to the major airports in Oslo, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Copenhagen, was particularly important. From here, they can easily reach their customers in an advantageous way, both economically and environmentally.

Visit from politicians in Port of Uddevalla

Four representatives from one of the government parties visited Uddevalla harbor in December, with the mission to discuss the continued development of Swedens ports

Ulf Stenberg, CEO of Uddevalla Hamnterminal, made a presentation of the port, where he pointed out our future challenges.

We also presented them to our ideas on how we, can contribute to solving the building logistics to construction sites in Gothenburg and the possibilities to maximize the resource utilization of the railway in our area.

We appreciate the visit, thank you for your interest in our business!

Vacancies for laying up vessels in Uddevalla

A number of vessels have recently departed from the Port of Uddevalla, including a number of the supply vessels (to the oil industry) which have been layed by berth at quay in Uddevalla for a longer period of time

This is a good thing, as most of the time means new assignments for the vessels and its owners. For us, this means that there are now possibilities to give shipping companies the opportunity to find suitable berths, in our safe and ice-free port.

Port of Uddevalla is designated as a national interest by the Swedish Transport Administration and thus has an important task in taking care of the vessels that are in need of berth, for shorter or longer periods. There are a number of reasons to why a ship would needs to be laid up; cyclical fluctuations, changes in ownership or repairs to the vessel are some examples.

Did you know that vessels that are layed up at Uddevalla are given the advice and opportunity to connect to shore power? This means that they do not need to have their own engines running, which radically minimizes emissions.

Available office space in our property in Uddevalla

We now have an office space of 360 m² available for rent in our property located on Bastiongatan 5 in Uddevalla.

The office space is located on floor 2 of 3, with elevator avaliable, and can be adapted to fit your specific needs. The building has close proximity to communications and the possibilities for parking are good.

New solution for construction logistics in Gothenburg

One of the Nordic region's largest urban development projects is currently underway in Gothenburg. This is putting a lot of pressure on the logistics in this already busy city.

In an article in the industry magazine Transport and Logistics, we present our idea of how the logistics to and from building sites in Gothenburg can be solved.

Words from our CEO

Summing up the past year, we can see that both vessel traffic and freight volumes continues to increase with a steady pace trough Port of Uddevalla. To provide the best possible service, to each individual customer who ships their goods over Uddevalla, we always work purposefully. The increased volumes is an acknowledgement that this work pays off.

We have been working on the procurement of two new port cranes during the past few months. These new cranes will give us good conditions to handle future freight volumes and also provide opportunities for increased production.

It is said that time flies when having fun and this definitely something that is true for us, the past year has really flewed by and we have achieved a lot together with our partners and customers. The budget for the coming year and the business plan for the next three years is now set, but the real work remains to be done - implementation!

Many thanks to all of you for your great cooperation and trust during the past year. Without our customers and employees, we would not have been able to achieve these fine results for 2018. According to our christmas tradition, we have made a donation to the Sea Rescue Society, instead of giving Christmas gifts to our customers.

The New Year has now been welcomed and celebrated and we are more than ready to take new leaps, to continue providing our customers with the best possible service in the forthcoming year.

Best wishes
Ulf Stenberg, VD
