Noise affects our health and well-being
It is around us everywhere and a sign of movement and activity - the sound. While we perceive some sounds as pleasant and stimulating, other sounds just seem to be annoying noise such as motorway traffic.

Several studies examine what sound does to us humans, and how noise affects our health. During Annual Noise Day the Danish Cancer Society told about their current study on the subject. In this month’s edition of DELTA Agenda you can read about DELTA's performance contract 'Sound's effect on health and well-being'. Join us 30 November at the after-work meeting, which focuses on noise, noise annoyance, and health effects.

Are you more interested in regulations for the automotive and military industry, join us 16 November at DELTA’s Standardisation Day, where you will be updated on the latest news on standards for these industries. Sign up to right in this newsletter.

Measured sound emissions from machinery is important documentation for customers
Haarup Maskinfabrik obtained professional sound emission measurements of its concrete mixer VM750L. Now the company can provide documentation to its customers that the sound emission level is below the permitted maximum value, which means the machine operator does not need to wear hearing protectors.
New standard for standalone software for medical applications
Soon the standard IEC 82304-1 ‘Health software part 1: General requirements for product safety’, will be published in its final form. It focuses on safety (for the patient) and covers a ‘gap’ that up until now has been present in the standards.
DELTA project focuses on noise, noise annoyance, and health
Noise is a serious national and global problem. Many people suffer from noise annoyance in their homes and at work. Too much noise negatively affects well-being. Noise annoyance can lead to symptoms of stress, which can cause ill-health – and in the long term, can lead to early death.
Will It Flip? Piano
What will happen with this piano, when we put it through an EMC HALT test in our reverb chamber at DELTA Aarhus?
Low power wide area networks
Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) have made great advances in recent years – and rightly so. They offer a large range compared to the earlier short range solutions in the unlicensed band, and at the same time they provide the possibility of cheaper subscriptions compared to traditional mobile providers. But what are they and what do these technologies do that currently makes them so attractive?
Annual Noise Day 2016
The Danish Environmental Protection Agency’s Reference Laboratory’s ‘Annual Noise Day 2016’ was held on 10 October and attracted many visitors. The impact of noise from wind turbines on health, and practical noise reduction methods were included in the sessions.
DELTA sets the world standard for measuring of smoke density
DELTA’s Smoke Measuring Ionization Chamber (MIC) has since the beginning of the 1990’s contributed in assuring that smoke alarms and detectors all over the world are measuring correctly and thus saving lives.

… that chicken wire and greaseproof paper have been important EMC components since the 1950s? EMC problems arise in many different situations. In 1977, a glue drying machine at a furniture manufacturer’s location caused EMC problems with the TV signal in the local area.
Standardisation day: MIL and Automotive
Workshop 16 November in Aarhus
Electronic products for the military and for the automotive industry shall - like all other electronic goods - comply with certain requirements particularly within EMC.
Noise, noise annoyance, and health effects
This after-work meeting focuses on noise, noise annoyance, and health effects.
