Thursdays = M/V ICE Runner
Regular traffic on a weekly basis, between Rotterdam and Uddevalla with the feeder ship M/V ICE Runner, is running since this summer
Several companies have been able to significantly reduce their environmental impact through this new possibility of loading and unloading containers in Uddevalla. Mainly because the number of truckloads with containers between warehouse and port has decreased.

Ocean companies and cargo owners see Uddevalla as a good complement to Gothenburg. In addition to the environmental advantage, it also means increased flexibility.
Uddevalla Port + Transport Leader - Green logistics
Uddevalla Hamnterminal collaborates with the University Teknikhögskolan through a commitment in their educational program; Transport Leader - Green Logistics
This commitment gives us the opportunity to influence both the direction and the design of the program as well as giving us the potential to establish contact with students with interest in logistics.

The educational program in Uddevalla is a distance program with students located in different parts of the country. Through our commitment, we can help both the students and the school with information and provide current input regarding the trends and needs of logistics today.

Through our commitment, we also get better knowledge of news and trends. We see this cooperation and a continued close relationship with the program as an excellent way of recruiting staff.
Empty cargo carrier, an environmental opportunity!
We unload about 8000 railway wagons with export goods in Uddevalla every year
For some time we have focused resources to find opportunities for these wagons not to only arrive loaded with cargo, but also to leave the port filled with goods.

In many cases, we have succeeded in maximizing both the capacity of carriers and in offering our customers a priceworthy rail option. Even in shorter distances we have been able to offer a competitively good rail solution with wagons that circulate between the customer's warehouse and the port.
Combi terminal in Uddevalla
Together with Green Cargo, Uddevalla Hamnterminal acts as a combined terminal
The combination terminal involves transhipment of rail to car and vice versa. On the E6, every day there are about 1,500 trucks in transit between the continent and Norway. This means that there are plenty of opportunities to move significant cargo volumes from car to rail.

In conjunction with storage within the EU and small suborders to customers in Norway, not only environmental benefits, but also commercial benefits can be gained.
We create sustainable development
When it's time for new purchases and renovation, the environmental aspect is something we at Uddevalla Hamnterminal always have in mind
The most recent renovation made was replacing the floor in our truck garage. It has gained a new surface, an improvement both functionally and environmentally.

The old surface of the truck garage consisted of gravel, which now has been excavated and sent for decontamination. The new surface consists of Strongphalt, which provides a durable and oil resistant surface. Also where our machines are parked on outdoors, the surfaces has been improved with one that is highly resistant against oil and can handle the weight of heavy machinery.

An ongoing work is to replace the lighting in the whole port, both indoors and outdoors, to LED lighting and installing motion detectors. Outdoors, for example, all night lights is now LED lighting.

The latest machines purchased is an electric truck and a diesel truck, of course with the highest possible environmental class.
Words from our CEO

This newsletter is all about giving the environment a little bit extra space. Attention to the environment is important, for us and for everyone's common future, that is probably something we could all agree on.

Vessels are considered to be one of the most environmentally friendly transport options we have today and ship emissions has been overall reduced in our area since the introduction of the sulfur directive 2015. In the local environment, we are working in other ways to reduce our environmental impacts. For example, in our port, vessels can leave sludge and sorted waste.

As a company we are working systematically to reduce our overall energy usage, for example by trying to find smart solutions for material handling and energy use. And also by educating our staff and reducing the consumption of freshwater, both for our own usage and for sale to the vessels.

The working environment is also a key in the overall environmental engagement, in addition to monitoring the everyday work, this also means constant routine improvements. It may involve the transport of dangerous goods or handling other goods which may in some way adversely affect the environment in case of improper handling, or by accident, somewhere in the transport direction.
