A world full of changes
The world is seeing a rapid development in intelligent technological solutions, and still more products with wireless capabilities are being introduced to the market. But, how will concepts like IoT affect our society, and what happens when these smart products interact across eachother? IoT is one of the main themes of the 11 Performance Contract projects that DELTA has just initiated. Read more about the Performance Contract 2016-2018 projects in this edition of DELTA Agenda. You can also learn more about the challenges of security in connection with IoT at the workshop on 21 April (register for the event on the right of this newsletter).

EMC in marine lighting
Electronic marine products like LED floodlights and navigation lights emit electromagnetic noise, which can cause problems at sea. Norwegian marine light specialist Luminell uses reverb chambers to reveal design weaknesses during product development, to ensure their products are safe in use.
Is your fridge a radio...?
13 June 2016 the new radio equipment directive (RED) enters into force. A refrigerator with an integrated wireless network is a radio product and must comply with RED by 13 June 2017. It is still unclear how to comply with the requirements of the new directive, which does not yet have any standards harmonised under it.
DELTA enters into Performance Contracts with the Ministry of Higher Education and Science
As a part of DELTA’s role as a GTS Institute (i.e. Advanced Technology Group), DELTA has entered into a new Performance Contract for the period 2016-2018 with the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation under the Ministry of Higher Education and Science. The contract supports the implementation of DELTA's strategy and ensures that DELTA can make the latest technology and methods available to Danish companies.
Reliable product development based on Physics of Failure
Unforeseen failures in a marketed product are every company's nightmare. It is one thing to design the correct reliability and robustness into the early phases of a product's development, and another to analyse and test the product in order to predict the quality.
Lifetimes for LED light sources and their electronic drivers
The lifetime of an LED light source will not necessarily live up to what the manufacturer writes on the packaging. Lifetimes of 50,000 to 100,000 hours (6-12 years' lifetime at constant light) is not what the consumer actually gets - even if they are led to believe so.

… that in Denmark during the 1970s, a method for measuring retroreflectivity of road markings was developed - and is used worldwide today. Without proper quality of retroreflectivity from road markings and signs, the traffic in modern society would have difficulty operating - especially at night. Many, especially elderly people, would not be able to drive a car.
