The French healthcare system is undergoing a transformation, based on the strategic plan Ma Santé from 2018 and the Health Act from 2019. Both aim at a better-organised regional healthcare system. Priority areas are prevention and health promotion; improving access; guaranteeing quality appropriateness in treatments; and promoting innovation and development.
With “Ségur de la Santé” launched in 2020 the French government has launched a massive investment package to promote modernization and continuous investment in the healthcare system. 19 BEUR is being allocated to prepare the system to future challenges. A central part of this is to promote the use of digital tools and 2 BEUR is allocated to a digital development plan over a three-year period. Of this 600 MEUR is dedicated to the digital transformation of the elderly care services in both elderly care homes and home care.
Cancer is another focus; and the brand-new decennial cancer strategy plan aims to significantly reduce the burden of cancer focusing on three axes: improving prevention, improving patients’ quality of life and fighting serious cancer types. The plan is supported by an increased budget of 1.74 BEUR for its first 5 years.
