Ministerial Delegation Trip to Jakarta: Unlocking Healthcare Opportunities in Indonesia
Join the delegation trip to Indonesia – headed by H.E. Acko Ankarberg Johansson, Minister for Health Care. Take part in discussions with policy-makers and healthcare representatives and learn more about government initiatives to boost health and healthcare in Indonesia, and prospects in the private healthcare sector.
Together with the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, the Sweden Embassy in Jakarta, and Business Sweden, we are pleased to announce a delegation trip to Indonesia, to be headed by our Minister for Health Care, Acko Ankarberg Johansson.
As Indonesia expands its public healthcare system and its private sector continues to grow, new opportunities for collaboration are emerging. Sweden’s strong healthcare ties with Indonesia make this the perfect time to explore new business opportunities and strengthen partnerships in one of Southeast Asia’s largest and most dynamic markets.
During the trip, we will highlight existing Team Sweden’s efforts in the country and how more Swedish companies can capitalize on these initiatives, in e.g. cancer, diabetes and lung care, critical emergency care, mother and child health and rare diseases.
The program will consist of high-level and business meetings, the Sweden-Indonesia Strategic Partnership Healthcare Conference 2025, Embassy reception, and study visits.
Don’t miss this chance to gain valuable insights, connect with key stakeholders, and position your business in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing healthcare markets. Join us to be part of the dialogue and shape the future of healthcare cooperation between Sweden and Indonesia.

Indonesia Healthcare introduction
=> Did you know that Indonesia is the world’s fourth most populous country, with a rapidly expanding middle class driving a surge in healthcare demand? This transformation is creating a dynamic market for innovation and growth. Strong government initiatives are encouraging foreign investment and supporting cutting-edge solutions, making Indonesia an attractive destination.
=> For Swedish life science companies, Indonesia presents unique business opportunities in medtech, pharmaceuticals, hospital planning and digital health. Indonesia is modernizing its healthcare infrastructure to meet the needs of over 230 million citizens covered by universal health coverage. The government is prioritizing the expansion of telemedicine, AI-powered diagnostics, and remote monitoring solutions, while preventive healthcare is becoming increasingly important due to the rise of non-communicable diseases. There is a clear demand for sustainable and innovative solutions, an ideal opening for Swedish companies to step in and make a real impact.
=> Indonesia’s hospital market is projected to grow at an annual rate of 6.81% between 2024 and 2029. With over 1,000 public hospitals, nearly 2,000 private hospitals, and more than 10,200 public Health Community Centers, the country’s healthcare infrastructure is vast and continuously expanding. By 2025, the government plans to upgrade 66 regional hospitals in remote areas to provide more comprehensive and high-quality healthcare services.
