Invitation Business Delegation
BERLIN and DMEA eHealth Conference
April 8 - 11, 2024

Swecare, in collaboration with Swedish Medtech, Sahlgrenska Science Park, the German-Swedish Chamber of Commerce, the Embassy of Sweden in Berlin and Business Sweden, invites you to a delegation to Berlin, including participation in DMEA eHealth expo, meetings and mingle with public and private stakeholders in German healthcare, with a focus on digital health.

The delegation is a great opportunity for Swedish healthcare companies to get to know both the policy environment and the market for digital solutions in Germany. A focus for the delegation is the eHealth conference and expo DMEA, where there will be a Swedish part of a Nordic Pavillion, with opportunities for the organizations that join us to meet stakeholders, make presentations etc. We will also join a Nordic networking event organized by the Finnish embassy and Business Finland and co-hosted by the Swedish embassy, more info to follow.

The program starts on the afternoon of April 8, and will consist of the following parts:

  • Tour of the Deutscher Bundestag and meeting with Mr. Matthias Mieves, member of the Parliament, serving on the Committees for Health and for Digital Affairs (April 8)
  • Tentatively: Hospital study visit (April 8)
  • Visit to DMEA - the leading event for digital health in Europe (3-day pass included in the delegation fee), with a guided tour and participation in the Swedish-Norwegian booth. (April 9-11)
  • Networking event and mingle at Felleshuset*, by invitation from the Swedish and Finnish embassies (April 9)
  • Tentatively: Visit to "Forum Digital Technologies" at Frauenhofer Heinrich-Hertz Institut, which develops a European test infrastructure for AI and robotics in healthcare (tbc)
A more detailed program will be presented in the coming weeks.  If you have any ideas on additional visits or meetings, let us know.

The German market for digital health
Germany is Europe's largest healthcare and life sciences market, with healthcare spending exceeding EUR 475 billion and market growth of 5.4 percent over the past five years. With 1,900 hospitals, many of them privately operated, with a capacity of +500,000 beds, Germany has the largest hospital sector in Europe.

The healthcare industry in Germany is undergoing massive digitalization. By 2025, the German digital health market is projected to be worth EUR 57 billion. The Digital Care Act (DVG) now paves the way to broad usage and reimbursement of digital health applications (DIGAs), providing access to digital health applications on prescription to 73 million insured Germans. A number of telemedicine initiatives have also sprung up in recent years, with about 200 telemedicine projects currently active in Germany.

About DMEA
