Antibiotic-resistant bacteria cause the deaths of more than 1.3 million people worldwide each year. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is also a major factor limiting therapeutic options. We need to ensure global access to effective antibiotics in the future, as well as to minimize the development and spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria.
The primary health care level is the first main point of entry of infectious pathogens to the health system. Approaches exist that reduce the risk of contamination and transmission at this level, making a more restricted use of antibiotics feasible. As a health care professional there are effective ways of supporting this, including prudent use of antibiotics and IPC.
Sweden has some of the lowest rates for antibiotic use and resistance. Different approaches have been developed and will be discussed in this webinar, including how we work with AMR and IPC in Sweden, focusing on primary health care.
Join Swecare during this webinar, where you will learn of:
- Sweden's overall work on AMR and IPC on the national level
- The work of the Public Health Agency
- AMR and applying IPC in primary care, hand on examples.
Your take-homes from this session will be:
- A knowledge of Swedish approaches to IPC and AMR
- Some practical ideas on improving outcomes for your patients, which you can implement today
At the end there will be Q&A time.
Welcome!
