The Coronavirus extends the Chinese New Year UPDATE

Dear customer,

On January 26th, the Chinese Government informed that the ongoing Chinese New Year will be extended from January 31, to February 2nd. Shanghai, Wuxi and Suzhou have already informed that Several non-vital social functions will remained closed until 9-10th of February. These actions are done in hope to minimize the spread of the ongoing Coronavirus epidemic.

This will cause major disruptions in the production and logistic supply chains with significant delays as a result. Terminal, customs and administrative services will be closed during this period.

AIR:
Departures to and from China will be cancelled, with a few exceptions. For customers exporting to China, it is of the utmost importance to bare this in mind when placing transport bookings. Cargo arriving during this time, will remain in destination terminals, with ensuing extra cost as a result.

SEA:
Cargo arriving in China will remain at terminals with ensuing detention, demurrage and additional costs as a result. Extra cost will also apply for export cargo, where empty containers have been picked up prior to the start of the Chinese New Year holiday. At this time there is some uncertainty to if the ocean carriers will call upon the Port of Shanghai according to the regular sailing schedule.

RAIL:
No transport Bookings are accepted by rail operators at this time. There are no indications regarding when current restriction will be lifted.

Unfortunately, this is beyond our control and any extra cost due to this situation will not be absorbed by us.

We maintain a close contact with our colleagues in the region and will revert with more region-specific information once available.
