Norwegian fjords in French film for prestige program in Cannes

Bjørn Floberg and Vicky Krieps play the main roles, alongside Gaspard Ulliel in what turned out to be his latest film role. Large parts of the film were shot in Hjørundfjorden on the west coast of Norway, and that beautiful area will now be shown at the world's largest and most important film festival from 17 - 28 May 2022.

About More Than Ever

More Than Ever (Plus Que Jamais) is about Hélène and Mathieu who live a hectic and happy life together in Bordeaux. Hélène becomes seriously ill and decides to travel alone to Norway to find peace and thus putting her relationship with Mathieu to the test. Norwegian actor Bjørn Floberg plays the man that Hélène seeks out in Norway in search of a new direction in life.

Vicky Krieps (most recently cinematic in Bergman Island) plays Hélène and Gaspard Ulliel plays Mathieu. French film star Gaspard Ulliel died in January this year in a ski accident, at 37 years old. More Than Ever became his latest feature film.

The film is directed by Emily Atef and the film music is composed by Norwegian Jon Balke. More Than Ever will be distributed domestically in Norway by Mer film when it hits cinemas in Norway this autumn.

More Than Ever is produced by Xenia Maingot for the French company Eaux Vives with Maria Ekerhovd and Ragna Midtgard for Mer Film as Norwegian co-producers. The film has received NOK 3 million (EUR 0,3 million) in co-production grants from the Norwegian Film Institute and is also supported by the Zefyr Media Fund and the  Western Norway Film Centre.

Part of European cooperation and financing

-The Norwegian production company Mer film, which has had many successful co-productions in the past, collaborates with skilled French producers with a broad network that Mer film can further benefit from. The fact that the Norwegian Film Institute provides grants for minority co-production contributes to Norwegian producers expanding their international network and strengthening their position as interesting production partners. At a time when the financing of films is challenging, such European collaborations are increasingly important, says the Norwegian Film Institute's CEO Kjersti Mo.
