Director and screenwriter Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel's first feature film, Armand, has been invited to the Un Certain Regard program at the Cannes Film Festival. 

Dag Johan Haugerud's new feature SEX has won a total of three awards at the Berlin Film Festival: the Europa Cinema distribution award, the arthouse cinema award, and the prize from the ecumenical jury. 

Four Norwegian documentary films are competing for awards at this year's CPH:DOX (March 13.-24). Award-winning documentarist Håvard Bustnes' new film Phantoms of the Sierra Madre is selected for the international main competition.

For the first time ever, a Norwegian documentary has won the Dragon Award Best Nordic Documentary in Gothenburg. The winner is the already highly acclaimed “Ibelin”, about the gamer Mats "Ibelin" Steen. 

The documentary film "A New Kind of Wilderness " won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize: Documentary, while "Ibelin" received The Directing Award and The Audience Award in the same section. The feature film "Handling the Undead" won Special Jury Award for Original Music in The World Cinema Dramatic Competition. This makes this year's awards ceremony the best ever for Norwegian cinema at a major festival. 

Projects from Nepal, Vietnam, Mozambique, and Tunisia with Norwegian minority co-producers are set to have their world premiere at the 74th edition of the Berlinale in February.

The Arctic Convoy, directed by Henrik M. Dahlsbakken, will celebrate its international premiere at Rotterdam International Film Festival. The captivating large scale action drama, inspired by true events, is set during the crucial stages of WW2 that took place in the freezing arctic sea.

The Oslo-based Sweden-Finnish film director and screenwriter Johanna Pyykkö, who works all across the whole Nordic region, will have her feature debut in competition both in Premier Plans d'Angers and Gøteborg.

The documentary about Mats Ibelin Steen and his life in the gaming world, Thea Hvistendahl's feature film Handling the Undead, and Silje Evensmo Jacobsen's documentary A New Kind of Wilderness have been invited to competition at Sundance Film Festival. The alternative film festival Slamdance will feature the fiction film The Bitcoin Car, the documentary film Punishment, and the short film A Home on Every Floor and Complications. 

Mohamed Jabaly was awarded Best Director in the International Competition for his film Life is Beautiful at IDFA, the world’s largest documentary film festival.  The award ceremony took place in Amsterdam on November 16th, 2023.
