Zaradasht Ahmed
Director & DOP Zaradasht Ahmed (b. 1968) is a Kurdish-Norwegian filmmaker, born and raised in northern Iraq. He has made several award-winning documentaries and has extensive experience in documentary filmmaking in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia.
His film, Nowhere to Hide, premiered at IDFA in 2016 The film follows the medic and father Nori Sharif through five years of dramatic change after the American retreat from Iraq in 2011. While filming stories of survivors, he finds himself trapped between ISIS and the different Iraqi Militias.
Nowhere to Hide has screened at numerous international film festivals and has received twenty awards, including Best Feature Length Documentary at IDFA, Nestor Almendros Award for courage in filmmaking at Human Rights Watch International Film Festival New York and the National Film Award Amanda for Best Documentary.
