Capacity shortage for import and export cargo from the Far East

Dear customer,

The situation on the ocean freight market is still strained. We are continuosly experiencing restraints concerning load bearing transport capacity.

After the initial transport capacity shortage, experienced in connection to the prolonged shut down of the Chinese production sector in the first weeks of the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic, the most significant delays have been experienced for export cargo from Europe. Unfortunately, we can again detect similar delays for import cargo from China and the Far East.

The available transport capacity is limited, regardless of transport route. In order to maintain a great quality of service and minimize the risk of delays, we urge you to place transport bookings as well in advance as possible, no later than 4 weeks prior to requested departure date.

Our Rail Solutions, to and from Asia, is still operating on normal capacity. We offer both FCL and LCL transport solutions in both directions, which can provide alternative transports while the situation on the ocean freight market remains uncertain.

If you have questions, please contact your local GEODIS representative.

Sincerely,
GEODIS Sweden AB
